Executive Communications & Thought Leadership

For more than a decade Libi Sprow Rice was a member of the senior leadership team and a trusted advisor to the CEO and Board of The Executive Leadership Council, overseeing executive engagement and the thought leadership programs that put the organization’s leaders in front of national and international audiences.

Executives, candidates and organizational leaders are expected to communicate across more audiences and platforms than ever. We help leaders do it with clarity, authenticity and authority.

How we approach it

It has to sound like you, and it has to go somewhere

Speechwriting and talking points begin with the leader’s own voice: how you actually talk, what you know better than anyone in the room, and what you are willing to say plainly. A speech that could have been given by anyone persuades no one. We write for the person, for the audience and for the decision that audience is going to make afterward.

Delivery gets the same attention. Spokesperson preparation and public speaking preparation cover the hard questions, the hostile room, the five-minute testimony slot and the television hit, with enough practice that the leader can concentrate on the people rather than the notes.

Thought leadership is the long game: a speaker positioning and visibility strategy that chooses the issues a leader should own, the platforms worth the time, and the cadence of op-eds, commentary, presentations and appearances that builds authority over a year rather than a week. We also help organizations develop a consistent public voice for senior leadership, so the chief executive, the board chair and the program director are recognizably the same institution.

Who we work with

Leaders who are asked to speak for something larger than themselves

Executives and executive directors

Leadership announcements, board and member presentations, the annual meeting speech and the interview nobody enjoys.

Candidates and elected officials

Candidate communications, forum and debate preparation, the stump speech and the op-ed that explains a vote.

Emerging public voices

School leaders, clergy, advocates and founders who are becoming the face of an issue and want to be ready for it.
